Research interests

The overall focus of our research is the transformation of contaminants in natural and engineered systems.  The main research area is transformation of chlorinated aliphatic contaminants in anaerobic subsurface environments.  Recent projects have focused on characterizing the mineral products that form when chlorinated aliphatics (like trichloroethylene) react with anaerobic minerals (like mackinawite).  A second area of interest is development of new materials for water treatment and life cycle assessment of water treatment technologies.
